howdy! [23 Jul 2008|07:41pm]
just a quick note to say that tape relay has moved timeslot... well a mere half hour later so it now broadcasts on tuesday nights from 7.30 to 9pm. still loving it immensely (except when i have a tonne of preparation to battle) and i'm as deeply excited about the amazing music i get to talk about as ever!

podcasts by the way are available from both the podomatic page (http://taperelay.podomatic.com) and on last.fm (http://www.last.fm/music/Tape+Relay). longer form TR sound files and whatever Osmosis soundbites i can find are also hosted on the Osmosis podomatic page (http://osmosis.podomatic.com).

say hello to tape relay [14 Feb 2008|03:46pm]
just past the 6 months mark on the new show, so is it still new any more? nevertheless, it's all here now : myspace.com/taperelay and 2ser.com/programs/shows/tape-relay.

i'm also in the midst of creating podomatic pages for both tape relay and osmosis to house all the interviews and regular segments (t-r only) that i've got digitised. slowly, slowly.

tape relay is rad. and i say that in an entirely modest fashion. i mean to say, it's fun to host, i enjoy the music selection (and wide scope of music genres to plunder from) and i am seriously in love with, and amazed by, my awesome family of regulars. they are all so freaking knowledgable and have such a great way of imparting information that i feel so privileged to talk to them so often. my musical vocabulary has expanded exponentially because of the incredible music afficionados i have on tape relay. so i hope you can tune in.

tape relay, by the way, is on the same time slot as osmosis used to be. tuesday nights from 7pm to 8.30pm on 2ser 107.3fm. and it streams live as always.

Radiothon 2006 [23 Oct 2006|01:16am]
2SER's Annual Radiothon has just begun and I strongly urge you all to whip out the cash to support Sydney's best community radio (and i say that completely without bias).

Your subscription goes towards operating costs such as licences, administration, station equipment.

2ser is a community station that broadcasts to the greater Sydney area on 107.3fm and worldwide via online streaming. As we are not for profit and receive no government funding, we rely on the support of local businesses, listeners and members of the community, like you, to operate.

Help to continue 2SER's dedication to providing independent, unbiased news, culture and current affairs coverage, cutting edge and non-playlisted music, and intelligent discussion topics.

And then of course, there are the prizes. oh the prizes (valued over $50k)

Every new and renewing subscriber goes into the draw to win a "Road to Angkor" trip for 2 to with Intrepid Travel, valued at $6,296. and

sam shinazzi interview + heligoland clip [28 Aug 2006|01:06pm]
Someone (must be a VERY good friend of sam's, or the man himself) has very kindly gone to the massive effort of transcribing the rather long interview I recorded with Sam Shinazzi in 2005, talking about his record at the time "Stories You Wouldn't Believe".

You can read the entire interview here on sam's website. Sam has recently begun recording his next album so stay tuned for more news on that.

Also, you can the latest videoclip of another Osmosis regular, Heligoland for their song "Nearly Everything Is New" here

iron on video clip [11 Aug 2006|03:47pm]
Hello, I've recently been enjoying listening to the Iron On song "Playing Hard to Want" (Oh the Romance album), since I saw the video clip for it recently. And it turns out, it's on myspace, so here's the link.

http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&n=2&videoid=1033331975

(disclaimer: the clips is not pornographic or anything, but there is a little bit of undie-d bum and bare man-chest at the start of the clip, so if your workplace or educational institution is prudish about these sort of things, best to watch it at home)

if you've got links to other australian indie video clips online, let me know!

R.I.P. Grant McLennan [08 May 2006|09:39am]
As you may have heard, Grant McLennan, one half of the legendary Australian pop outfit The Go-Betweens sadly passed away on the weekend at his home in Brisbane, at just age 48.

Such sad news for Osmosis and an enormous blow to the indiepop community, not just the Australian music community. They were an immensely influential band, and provided us with such wonderful pop gems like Lee Remick, Cattle and Cane and The Streets of Your Town.

Please feel free to share your thoughts about Grant McLennan or the Go-Betweens on this page.

Thanks also to everyone who supported the show - the labels, bands, managers, even the pesky publicity people! In particular, shoutouts go to Charles McPhedran (my illustrious co-host for the first half of Osmosis), Jasper Lee/Oz Music Project, Cameron Webb/Steady Cam Records, Mel Lake + Stef Zagorksi/Quietly Suburban Records/Architecture Label, Bartmiaow/Library Records, Crouchy + Dan Atkinson/Candle Records, Guy Blackman/Chapter Music, Sam Shinazzi/C-Minus Project, Peabody, Sounds Like Sunset, the Cannanes, the Lucksmiths, Panel of Judges, Earth to Nigel and all the past/present 2SER staffers + volunteers. phew!

I reckon I'll be back on 2SER before too long (sometime in 2007) so please keep visiting this website for news and updates. I'll try and keep it fresh with content with stuff about my favourite Australian bands.

For the time being though, I will be spending the rest of 2006 working on some long-term projects of mine - traffic sounds is in need of a major overhaul and i will also be exploring the possibilities of making music related documentaries.

and please don't hesitate to contact me osmosisradioshow @ gmail . com

Bye for now!
